BDA Good Practice Scheme
Dental group gets recognition from British Dental Association - twice over
A North East Dental group has received a double recognition from the British
Dental Association (BDA) Good Practice Scheme.
Osborne Dental Group’s Jesmond branch is the only practice in the Gosforth and Jesmond area to be recognised as committed to good practice and
Stanley Dental is the only dental surgery in Stanley to also receive the recognition for its high standards.
The
Good Practice Scheme proves to patients that a practice is committed to working to standards set by the profession’s national association. It is an innovation devised by the BDA so that dentists and nurses can ensure they are providing the best care available and patients will know exactly what service to expect from their dentists.
Anne Bender, head of the BDA Good Practice Scheme said: “We are delighted to confirm that the dental teams at Osborne Dental and Stanley Dental have achieved recognition on the Good Practice Scheme.
“This is a double success and is an opportunity for the dental teams to really celebrate their commitment to high standards in patient care.”
Principal dentist at
Osborne Dental,
Onkar Dhanoya said: “I am pleased that both practices have been recognised by the scheme for our hard work and commitment to caring for the dental well-being of our patients.
“As part of the BDA’s Good Practice scheme each member of the team has signed up to a ten point commitment which is displayed in the practice.”
Osborne Dental is currently expanding and will launch three new purpose built surgeries, including a dedicated implant suite at its Jesmond site in September.
Onkar Dhanoya has also recently been appointed Dental Implant Tutor by Astra Tech Dental, training colleagues in Dental Implantology.
What Osborne Dental's membership of the Good Practice Scheme means for our patients.
The BDA’s Good Practice Scheme helps practices comply with currently accepted standards of good practice. The following ten-point commitment is at the heart of the Good Practice Scheme and every member of the
dental team at
Osborne Dental has made a personal commitment to it.

- We aim to make your treatment as comfortable and convenient as possible
- We look after your general health and safety while receiving dental care
- We follow current guidelines on infection control
- We check for mouth cancer and tell you what we find
- We take part in continuing professional development to keep our skills and knowledge up-to-date
- We train all staff in practice-wide work systems and review training plans once a year
- We welcome feedback and deal promptly with any complaints
- Every member of the practice is aware of the need to work safely under General Dental Council guidelines.
We aim to keep up to date with nationally agreed standards of good practice and provide the best care for our patients.
