Principal Dentist Dr Onkar Dhanoya and Dr Adele Jardine, both dental surgeons at Osborne Dental  have seen their Facial Aesthetics Practice grow steadily over the last five years. This growth has been patient demand lead. What began as Saturday morning surgery for a select group of patients has grown in popularity so that The Osborne Dental Group is shortly opening a glamorous, dedicated, facial aesthetics suite "Osborne Skin" in the same premises in Jesmond.

Dermal Fillers

Among the signs of an aging face is the loss of volume on the cheeks, hollows along the sides of the face and deep folds forming along the sides the mouth.

There is a non surgical solution to correct these and to restore fullness to cheeks and lips.

Injectable fillers may be used alone or together with procedures including Botox. When injected beneath the skin these fillers plump up creased wrinkles and the folds of the skin.

Dr Dhanoya has achieved very good results, treating patients with under eyes hollows. The treatment involves injecting tiny doses of Teosyal into the under eye area using an incredibly fine needle. This creates an instant plumping effect that takes years off your looks.

The Procedure

The product is injected into the skin with a very fine needle and patients are injected with either a dental injection of local anaesthetic or a topical anaesthetic cream is applied to the skin before treatment.

How long will the results last?

The result from the treatment is immediate and will last about 6 months.

How long do I need to take off work?

There is little down time and you may experience a little redness and swelling which can be camouflaged with make- up or you may want to take the day to recover.

Is it safe?

At Osborne Dental we never use permanent fillers and the products we use have a demonstrated consistent safety record. Dr Dhanoya and Dr Jardine, only use dermal fillers that have demonstrated long term predictable results with reliable safety.

Restylane and Teosyal are the brand names for two forms of injectable hyaluronic acid specially formulated for facial contouring. Hyaluronic acid is a natural, biocompatible substance which replaces lost volume and rehydrates skin tissue by absorbing 1,000 times its weight in water.

Restylane and Teosyal are not derived from animals and this reduces the chance of any allergic  reaction.

Will it look obvious that I have undergone treatment?

Dr Dhanoya and Dr Jardine are experienced practitioners and will give the patient an honest opinion about treating him or her and about the effect they want to achieve.

Yes, the treatment makes a real difference but At Osborne Skin we believe that the best result is not too obvious. Instead we prefer a smoother well rested look, we aim to gently erase some of the tell tales signs of ageing, but leave it up to you whether you share your secret or not!


Botox treatments create a fresher more youthful appearance without surgery

Facial lines are caused by the repeated use of the underlying facial muscles, which over time results in a permanent crease or wrinkle.

One of the best known treatments for removing wrinkles from your forehead and around the eyes, nose and mouth is Botox . Botox is muscle relaxant that is used to relax and soften “frown” lines around the forehead and eyes.

Where Botox is injected it reduces the facial movements which result in wrinkling. This gives a smoother more rested appearance to the face. A fresher more youthful look.

Women typically have more expressive faces and thinner, more delicate skin; they are prone to facial wrinkles but that doesn't mean men get away with it !

Botox is most commonly performed on the upper face. The most common areas treated are the horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines between the eyebrows and crows feet (or laughter lines).

The procedure:

The smallest needles are used and the medicine does not sting as much as a local anaesthetic injection. It is a bit like having your eye brows plucked.

How long will the results last?

You should start to see the effects over 3- 14 days following the treatment, the main effect is visible at about 7 days. The effect after the initial injection lasts between 3- 5 months for most patients. You will notice a gradual fading of the effect and at this stage can return for a repeat treatment, perhaps 2 -3 times a year if you like the effect.

Regular treatments prevent the skin from creasing and that can keep new wrinkles from forming as well as smoothing out the existing ones. Clinical trials have shown that over time the duration of the effect increases, resulting in less treatments being needed to maintain the result.

How long do I need to take off work?

As soon as your treatment is over you can resume normal activities. There are some precautions and you will be advised about these; they include not massaging the area treated for 12 hours and keeping your head upright for 4 hours after injection. No yoga classes or shoe shopping!

As a quick and effective treatment, with excellent results and virtually no down time it is perfect for those patients who have signs of facial ageing but would prefer not to have surgical intervention.

Is it safe?

Botox injections are currently the most popular cosmetic procedure with over 1.6 m botox injections being performed last year. The cosmetic uses of Botox were discovered by chance in the late 1980s. It has been safely and effectively used in medicine for over 30 years. The treatment has a well established safety record. In the USA the Food and Drug Administration( FDA) licences Botox for cosmetic use.

I do not want  a face without expression

Dr Dhanoya and Dr Jardine believe the best results are achieved when botox is injected to a level which does not cause complete freezing of the muscles but weakens them so that some movement is still possible.
